El Sarape in Olympia

We've been coming to this place for over 20 years. Authentic tasty Mexican food. It's only gotten better over time. We still see some of the same servers.

Really enjoyed my meal here. I had the pork carnitas and they were the best I've had! The meat was crispy and falling off the bone. The waiters were attentive but didn't interrupt our girls night too much. It was a great evening.

Awesome. By far the best Mexican restaurant that I have eaten at. I've eaten there several times, and every time it has been great.

When in Lacy my wife and I come here for the street tacos. Really good. Best salsa too.

We love El Sarape in Lacey! Our first time back since reopening after the pandemic began. Great food, excellent service (thanks, Salvador!) and great job practicing safety.

Salsa. I’d give it 5 for the salsa alone. Friendly and clean and prompt. We shared a salad with jalapeño ranch, which was good. Molcajete which was great (huge serving, the mushrooms were a great touch, the chicken was cooked perfectly though I’d have put less cheese and more veggies). But that salsa. Fresh, chunky, spicy, and absolutely divine.

Ok it was a sad experience for my lady and I. We stated that she was allergic to onions at the beginning of the meal. We were brought salsa, guacamole and pico all that had white onion in it our server said. That's ok and expected. We were both served rice as a side, and part way through the rice she found multiple bits of onion and was told in thought you meant red onion. B.S. The servers are horrible and don't care.

Food was ok, like every other Mexican restaurant around. Restaurant was clean & empty of customers. Service was nice since it was TOTALLY empty. Food came quick, as ordered & hot. Prices were WAY TOO HIGH though. I won't go back. I'd rather go to a chain Mexican restaurant if I'm gonna eat food that tastes like a chain Mexican restaurant, but get better prices at a chain restaurant. Wish there were more single & unique in flavor Mexican restaurants around. 😕

Great food, quick service and a super friendly bartender!

Food has always been good over the years of going there. Got takeout last week and it was the best, almost like u were there at the restaurant!

We have been to your restaurant several times and have enjoyed our meals. However this time we ordered our favorite drink, avocado margaritas which have been wonderful in the past, and we have bragged about to all of our friends. This time they were horrible. Very watered down, no flavor at all. One of us left her drink behind. For $9 a drink it should be better than what we had. You need a new bartender.

By far the best Mexican food in Lacey, so good, everything including the service was top notch. Can't wait to eat here again.

The food was great

Great food, fast service, generous portions. The staff is always friendly and efficient. This location is more low key and quieter than the Cooper Point restaurant in Olympia. There is limited parking, but it usually isn’t a problem. My family prefers the staff at this location the best. The generous super nachos can feed two college kids and their momma. Try it with the marinated fajita chicken, mmm, good!

Yesterday I got GrubHub delivery for lunch from El Sarape. First off, it was so great to see a Mexican restaurant with so many vegan entrees! I went with the vegan burrito gorda which was absolutely delicious! The burrito was packed with flavorful black beans, yummy vegan chorizo and greens then smothered in a craveable sauce and plenty melty vegan cheese. It came with really rice and refried beans topped with a little more vegan cheese and fresh made tortilla chips and a delightfully spicy fire-roasted salsa packed with chunks of fresh veggies. The serving was huge. I ended up having enough left over for a second meal. I'll definitely be getting food from El Sarape again!

Fabulous dinner. First family outing in months! Chicken fajitas, street tacos, side burritos (bean & cheese and beef). Perfecta Marg, margarita on the rocks sides of guacamole and fresh chips! Excellent service from Salvador and Marta! Plenty of room to social distance, scan the barcode on the table and you have your menu and you can place your order right from there too! We had some custom orders so we had Salvador place ours! El Sarape in Lacey is the best El Sarape in town hands down! Glad to be back!

Great food! Have had a hard time finding good Mexican food since moving to Washington. A neighbor suggested el sarape we have found our go to place when in the Lacey area 😀

First time here, and I thought it was great! Very friendly and attentive service from the friendly staff. Had the jalapeno poppers and 6 tacos, all of which were hot and flavorful. Carne asada, tinga, and marinated pork! Live near here and will be back for sure!

Very very good. Smiling sweet ladies welcomed us..took us directly to a booth and took our orders quickly. The food was delivered very fast and it was delicious. Freshly prepared, fresh ingredients, special recipes that were delightful. I highly recommend this place and we'll be back!

Good food. Pretty typical Mexican menu. Large portion sizes and the price isn't bad. Staff is very helpful and you never feel rushed.

I enjoyed my visit here. Good customer service and the margarita was tasty. However the food wasn't my personal favorite, but I would try other menu items.

Food was terrible. Tamale was all dough. Ground beef had a peculiar flavor which made tacos and burrito taste odd. Did not like. House margaritas were good flavor just very little tequla. Sat in bar by back door and it was very Smokey smelling.This place has gone down hill since our last visit.Probably won't be back

The food was good and was served quick for lunch. Staff could have made suggestions but he was efficient. Booths are small for grown men. The servings are a good amount.

Never a dull moment. Go in to be seated with a girl friend and my son. Guess they're closing 2 hours early. They hand me a menu, and say they're slow so they're closing early. Great customer service, yet no one was leaving. Hmmmm. Okay. So we order, to go. Set for about 15 minutes, the bar is full and the restaurant...Was it just us or did you guys even close early?Or did we scream too much rainbow in Lacey, WA?

I have eaten here several times. El Sarape is one of my favorite places for dining out. Tonight I ordered takeout through Ubereats. One of the best takeout experiences since COVID began! The fajita quesadillas were amazing!

It was ok. Way overpriced for below average food, their salsa was like ketchup. The Mayan is a million times better.

Decent food but expensive and the service isn't anything worth mentioning. I prefer several of the other locations over this one but after trying them all in Olympia I'm definitely making the Mayan my go to mexican restaurant instead. The price is comparable but the food is much better and the atmosphere/employees are more engaged.

I like this place and always have. I like that it's secluded. The food is always amazing. Service is in my opinion is ok. I always love our waitress, super on top of everything and always attentive. The other co workers though, don't really give an inviting feel. At least that's what we felt yesterday. I'm not one that really cares for attitude and anger, when you ask for mild salsa.

Thank you so much for making me my favorite dish!!!! You guys are the best. I will end up going to salsa anonymous just so I can break the habit of craving your salsa. It is the best of any restaurant. Keep up the good work guys!!
